Visitors to Kringlan can walk to Reykjavík City Theatre without setting a foot outside! Reykjavík City Theatre is managed by the Reykjavík Theatre Company, one of the oldest cultural organisations in Iceland.
In 1989 Reykjavík City Theatre opened in Kringlan and now offers a wide range of productions to suit all tastes. Parking is available in the carpark or in Kringlan’s underground parking area so theatre-goers can enjoy a meal at one of Kringlan’s restaurants before continuing on foot to the theatre without stepping outside!
This season, Reykjavík City Theatre is producing 22 shows including five children’s and family shows, four dance performances and 12 plays ranging from comedies to serious dramatic works. Collaboration with Vesturport and the Icelandic Dance Company allows for a wider variety of performances. Reykjavík City Theatre strives at all times to provide an enriching and inspiring experience.
As always, Reykjavík City Theatre seeks to confront audiences on an emotional level and to enter into an active dialogue with them.
